statistics wise i couldn%26039;t tell you how many women keep there maiden name. though i can tell you that usually women of power, position, or wealth often have their maiden or hyphenated names when they are married. partly because they are already well known by that name and partly because they want to be considered their husbands equal.

I understand where you are coming from because I was married later in life than most other people so I identified with my self through my original surname. My sister hyphenated her name...but nine times out of ten people don%26039;t acknowledge both names. They say one or the other... rarely both. I%26039;ve know women for years to find out they had hyphenated names and I never knew.
My solution was to keep my last name as a middle name. I have a first name, two middle names and a last name -- no hyphen...no confusion.
I kept my name and I don%26039;t have the controversy or confusion that goes along with it.
I was able to adopt the surname of the man I loved, share the surname with our children and I still keep the name of the people I%26039;ve loved the longest...and I acknowledge my identity every time I sign my name.

statistics wise i couldn%26039;t tell you how many women keep there maiden name. though i can tell you that usually women of power, position, or wealth often have their maiden or hyphenated names when they are married. partly because they are already well known by that name and partly because they want to be considered their husbands equal.
Personally i don%26039;t think it is less patriarchal to keep your maiden name as it is technically your fathers name so really your choosing to be claimed by your father or husband. I understand where you are coming from because I was married later in life than most other people so I identified with my self through my original surname. I didn%26039;t have the same anti-patriarchal feelings that you expressed. When I graduated from high school and when many of my girlfriends got married...they kept their last names and hyphenated them. Frankly, it was to thumb their noses at the patriarchal custom of loosing last names. Since then, there have been a few divorces and remarriages and not one hyphenated the second time around.
My sister hyphenated her name...but nine times out of ten people don%26039;t acknowledge both names. They say one or the other... rarely both. I%26039;ve know women for years to find out they had hyphenated names and I never knew.
My solution was to keep my last name as a middle name. I have a first name, two middle names and a last name -- no hyphen...no confusion.
I kept my name and I don%26039;t have the controversy or confusion that goes along with it.
I was able to adopt the surname of the man I loved, share the surname with our children and I still keep the name of the people I%26039;ve loved the longest...and I acknowledge my identity every time I sign my name.

I read your post on here last night and was thinking about it at work today and thought I would come back and say a few words on the subject of pop music. Hopefully this will help you to see things a little differently in a good way.
You know I kind of have to laugh when I hear people talk about maturity when it comes to pop music. How that music is immature and that music is more grown up. Really if you were to take all pop music rap music and country music and analysis it and look at its form and sturcture and cord progressions you would find that all, and I emphasize all, of it is really not very muture at all. These people don't really spend much time putting these tunes together. If you were to study classiscal music you would see how complex and muture music really could be. Believe me when John Rutter writes a requiem he spends some time on it, improving the melody and getting just the right chord progressions and getting those four part harmonies not to go in parallel fifths(a bad thing to do in four part voice writing). I went to a musical school and studied all that stuff about part writing and looking at Bach and Beethoven. How pop music is immature and below the standards of us as musical students. For years after leaving that school I had a hard time listening to pop because I felt like I was commiting some horrible sin by listening to it.
Now I say all that to say this. Pop music is not written to be mature. It is written to sound good, and what I mean there is to sell albums or get radio air play. So really there is nothing wrong with the Jonas Brothers. On the scale of maturity from 1 to 10, 1 being the most immature I'm sure that pop music that the rest of the class listens to is only one point up from the Jonas brothers songs or on the same level as them. As far as pop music goes I don't see what the problem is as far as the music itself. Also I think the hang up is only that they are under 18, but their songs are the same as the pop singers in there 20s or 30s, as far a musical maturity goes.
Anyway, I can now listen to pop and enjoy it again and I don't see a big deal listening to it, or the Jonas Brothers, even though I don't go out of my way to listen to them myself, but I like their songs. I still listen to classical now and then but mostly to pop. So don't be too upset about it and listen to whatever you like and enjoy it. Remember it is all immature so it doesn't matter which songs you choose to like, it is for entertainment purposes, just like a movie. For years after leaving that school I had a hard time listening to pop because I felt like I was commiting some horrible sin by listening to it.
Now I say all that to say this. Pop music is not written to be mature. It is written to sound good, and what I mean there is to sell albums or get radio air play. So really there is nothing wrong with the Jonas Brothers. On the scale of maturity from 1 to 10, 1 being the most immature I'm sure that pop music that the rest of the class listens to is only one point up from the Jonas brothers songs or on the same level as them. As far as pop music goes I don't see what the problem is as far as the music itself. Also I think the hang up is only that they are under 18, but their songs are the same as the pop singers in there 20s or 30s, as far a musical maturity goes.
Anyway, I can now listen to pop and enjoy it again and I don't see a big deal listening to it, or the Jonas Brothers, even though I don't go out of my way to listen to them myself, but I like their songs. I still listen to classical now and then but mostly to pop. So don't be too upset about it and listen to whatever you like and enjoy it. Remember it is all immature so it doesn't matter which songs you choose to like, it is for entertainment purposes, just like a movie. Something to pass the time and make you feel good or sad, whatever mood you feel like that day.I said in class that I saw the Jonas Brothers 3D movie during the weekend, why did everyone start laughing?

Start with subtle makeup not like heavy eyeliners and blush on etc. Wear light foundation, and mascara. Secondly, try to smile when people talk to you, go and sit next to someone who might be sitting alone ?but is popular or fun to be with. Ask politely to sit next to them, start a conversation. And do the same polite conversations with people that are known to be popular and not those rude and OTT people. Finally, believe in yourself, go around making new friends, helping people in various tasks, and don檛 try to act extremely dumb or intelligent. BUT if u just want to dress different heres a suggestion... wear a skirt in white or a light coloured skirt, then wear a plain singlet or plain top in a nuetral colour and a tight hoodie maybe in a bright colour or with a pattern on it. straighten you hair and then take two bits from the front on each side of your head and twist them back, then clip them at the back of your head. wear some silver studs and a silver ring. wear mineral powder, blush, mascara, grey eyeshadow and lipgloss. for shoes either wear neutral flats or if u want some small heel. wedges are great if you cant walk well in thin heels. if you need a handbag use a small shoulder handbag in a matching colour to something you are wearing. hope this helps!!

My e mail is outlook express 6 on my upstairs computer that has a receiver for dsl from my downstairs computer.
When I go to send a message, the user window with password pops up. I entered every conciveable password and nothing works.

ahh. okay. WE just read the Great Gatsby, and as a project, we have to come up with a few discussion questions related to Gatsby's childhood. For example...

-to what degree is it ethical to totally become reborn into a new and different person;
-what do we owe the past;
-what makes up our identity ?how do we define ourselves and by what criteria;

They cannot help you. The FBI is for internal research only! CIA deals with foreign matters. The Department of Homeland Security would be very helpful especially if you can prove that this person is a threat to America's safety. The State Department will get involved if the CIA and DHS get involved. You also should notify the INS (Immigration and Naturalization Service). If they are in the country illegally, then the INS will try to nab them too. If you are sure that it is Illinois, contact the police and INS Illinois task force. You could write about a girl who has a thick cultural background (e.g. catholic) who meets a guy who is of a different, conflicting culture (e.g. greek or islamic) and starts dating him. Because its only a short story you might want to write about a her going to one of his families traditional get togethers and seeing how differently they live and celebrate, or her just going out to eat with him and seeing all the social differences between them because of their religion then talk about how, without knowing it, we silently conform to how others of our religion and belief act.
