How to legally change your name in the UK?

Once I'm 18 I'm thinking of moving out and changing my identity (LEGALLY!) because i really don't like the life I've lead so far and I'd like to start fresh somehow...I really want to change my name but I've no idea how I would go about it.

Any advice on the route I'd have to take (In the UK please) would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advanceHow to legally change your name in the UK?
You do this via a %26quot;Deed Poll%26quot;

You have to inform banks, etc. of the change.

My friend changed his name to Respectable Face Of Engineering once.

Lastly, do whatever you want. If things go wrong you can always change it back again. How to legally change your name in the UK?
You need to go through the Deed Poll (UK ) Service.

There will be a fee and administration charge for changing your name.

Not all applications get accepted.

Go to the court house and ask for the papers to do so

.

You may and will have to have a man of the court to do the work for you

.

You can not do it all by your self

.

There are to many things that have to be done

.

Kind of like when a woman gets married

.

She can only do so if a man that is recognized by the court being in a position to do such a ceremony

Name changes are by Deed Poll down at the council office.

There is no need to chnage your name for a fresh start really, just new surroundings and a new attitude. A change of name won't change you as a person. You have to do that. If the name change helps, then go for it. But have a think about it first. How to legally change your name in the UK?

You can change your name to whatever you want in the UK but a Change of Name Deed will be needed to change official records: tax, passport, bank account, etc.

You don't need to go through an expensive Deed Poll agency as its a fairly simple Deed but you may need to sign the Deed before a Notary if you decide to go ahead.

Call yourself Bet or Beth, or using your middle name as your first name are other options.

Or get married to someone with a name you like!

Other answers are incorrect. In the Uk you have the right to call yourself whatever you want as long as it is not for financial gain. HMRC, DVLC, etc will accept your name change if you just write and say that you now wish to be know by xxxx name.

This right in enshrined in English case law and dont let anyone else try and tell you differently.
