If a dog is rehomed, how do you change the identity chip from one owner to another.?

We got cats from the RSPCA who microchip all their animals. When you adopt the animal, you fill in a form which they then send off to the company who hold all the microchip information. The company then change the contact details to you. There is no information other than a number of the microchip in the animal. This number then relates to information on a database held by a central company.

If you don't know who that company is, your vet should be able to scan the animal and tell you.If a dog is rehomed, how do you change the identity chip from one owner to another.?

i rehomed a dog that was already microchipped. You can get the vet to read the chip and then get in touch with the kennel club (uk) they will check with the previous owner to make sure the dog is not lost or stolen. The old owner then does the paperwork to get it signed over to you, it's all fairly painless. If a dog is rehomed, how do you change the identity chip from one owner to another.?
